How we were outsmarted by an 8 year old.

So today we went to the bookstore and Chance had said he wanted the next book in the Wimpy kid series. We found the table and were trying to figure out which book came next. A young boy was also looking at the books and after a couple of minutes of back and forth trying to decide which was next after the red one-I asked the little boy if he happened to know which came next. He said "the blue one is next, but the number is also right on the side". Then proceeded to show us the clear as day number 2 on the side of the book. Yep, here's your sign idiot! So yeah. John and I got owned by an 8 year old. I found it to be rather amusing. I read a bunch of series' books and I sure wish the authors would put the numbers on the side! It would make life so much easier. (you would think anyway, surely didn't help us much today).

I finally finished my history terms. The only thing I need to do is answer the essay questions but uggggggggggggggh. I will probably end up doing that Thursday night. Now I really need to work on my education class stuff since that exam is Tuesday. I woke up this morning...oops....afternoon I mean, and looked at the corner of the bedroom where I have my table and my little corner....saw the mess of books everywhere and the very thought of opening a textbook made me want to hurl. So rather than spend the day studying, I opted for a day out with John and Chance. Had a good time. Went to Pei Wei for lunch then walked over to Marble Slab since we haven't had ice cream in forever. Chance wasn't lying when he said he saved room for ice cream since he finished his entire cone I think. Then by the time we made it to the bookstore, just a few miles down the road-he was asking if we were going to get a snack in the bookstore. I think he is going to take after my dad with his bottomless pit appetite and manage not to gain a pound. The child already has a little washboard stomach.

Definitely contributed to the economic growth of Barnes and Noble. Lots of good bargain books this week. Even found some graphic novels that John likes in the bargain bin section. Rue McClanahan's book My First Five Husbands.....And the Ones Who Got Away was in the bargain section so of course I couldn't say no to that! Managed to grab a normally $40 25th anniversary edition of Trivial Pursuit for under $9 as it was 75% off. One of these days, we will actually have the time to invite people over to play some of these games we've acquired.

So after the bookstore, we fought the fun traffic on the gateway and I flew into a blinding rage when this stupid little bastard got OUT of the line of traffic knowing full well everyone in the right lane had to merge left, drove as far as he could in the right lane and forced himself over. I tried everything to keep from letting him in and the Mexican cowboy in front of me, who was polite enough to ask if I would let him in earlier, so I did and he even said thank you-nearly ran the little shit into the orange barrels which was hilarious. I liked that Mexican cowboy, that's my kind of people. So anyways, he didn't let him in and yet somehow the a-hole managed to get in front of me which set me off big time. I had a case of the shakes for the next ten minutes, I was so pissed off. I need to figure out a way to get a handle on it but ugh. If you know the lane is ending, don't be an asshole. Considering he was already in the correct lane and just wanted to make a little better time, it was the biggest a-hole move ever, to get out of the line of traffic to try and bypass everyone. I should have just ran him the hell over. He was in a little POS import that I could probably pick up and throw if I wanted to. Mr. Mexican Cowboy with his Chihuahua plates obviously had nothing to lose and was fully prepared to let the guy hit him and peel off his paint. Didn't look like it phased him one bit. He just stood his ground and chewed on his toothpick with one arm out the window and it was the most awesome sight ever. Not that it matters, but the a-hole in question had New Mexico plates, before anyone jumps to the conclusion of it being someone with Chihuahua plates.

Made it home without getting my knife out (even though the thought did cross my mind, and it's just a arms reach away at all times), ate some Pei Wei leftovers, worked on some phonics with Chance, did some crossword puzzles (trying to make myself smarter you know?) then read some Diary of a Wimpy Kid with the kiddo. We've had the first book for months now but just keep forgetting to read it. So we started on it tonight. It's pretty funny stuff. Chance can't wait to see the movie.

Also washed my truck today. John came home from getting milk at the store laughing and when I asked him what was so funny he said "it's raining outside". Figures. Ah well. The inside needs it more than the outside anyway really.

I think rather than start on my educ stuff, I'm just going to go to bed. I hope I manage to sleep tonight since Chance has this dry, awful cough. Spring has arrived in El Paso! I felt it big time the other day when John and I walked to pick up Chance. The wind was blowing just a little but I could taste the dust, feel it in my throat and had having a hard time breathing. The tree pollen count is at a moderate range right now, so that's probably why he's had the runny nose and cough like he has had for awhile now. It just hasn't been so dry like it's been today. Hopefully the meds we gave him will help. I'll have to look for something at Sun Harvest next time I go too and see if they have something for him. I don't want to go the doctor route with it.
