My first big boo boo since getting here.

We had went over to a guy from John's hometown's house for dinner. When his wife and I went up the street to Big Lots, I realized I had left my id, debit card, and room key in my pocket from yesterday in which we had just taken the entire hamper of dirty laundry over to the new house since I wouldn't be able to fit everything in my truck in the morning and only want to make one trip over there. So after we left, we had to backtrack and go all the way back to the house, then back on post. Now I only included that detour since it is somewhat significant.

Anyways, I took the wrong exit and accidentally took Fred Wilson instead of the Cassidy exit off of 54. No problem John says....just go up here and get back on 54. Somehow like a total idiot-I missed the big FLASHING sign that said "gate closed when flashing" and I wasn't getting back on 54, but I was on freaking Sheridan. And then hellooooooo, big gates and stop signs showing the gate is closed. To my left and right-concrete barriers. My only option was to turn around and drive the wrong way down the street. Oddly enough, another car did the exact same thing I did and I was flipping out thinking it was A. the police. (which wouldn't have been a bad thing really) or B. someone taking the opportunity to rob my arse blind since I was basically stuck. John kept telling me just to turn around and I said NO WAY. The car behind me did and hauled it big time back to the main road but I refused to do it. But if I am going to have to break the law, I am at least going to alert the authorities before I do it ya know? We ended up calling 911, they transferred me to Fort Bliss and had to dispatch someone out there to help us. (well I say help but he pulled up down on the other side of the fence, said to turn it around and someone would be waiting at the bottom of the hill to escort us-no one was at the bottom of the hill) Thankfully they understood that we are new to the area and I didn't get a ticket but man did I feel stupid. I think the policeman was pretty amused by my giant flub actually. After driving back the way we came, I have no idea how I missed the stupid sign saying it was Sheridan Rd and that the gate was closed when it was flashing.

Lol, and all this crap wouldn't have happened had the commy not forgotten to put my sushi in my bags yesterday, thus distracting me to leave my id and debit card in my pants, then causing us to miss that gate being open by 15 minutes. The gate closed at 9pm and it was about 9:15pm when this whole thing started.

Ah well, lesson learned.
